He Accepted the Assignment

How many times have you been assigned a task that you did not want to perform? Sometimes it is something stressful or difficult. You do not have the option of declining when asked. You fail to see how it would benefit you personally. Thus, you would like to have someone else do it. Yet, because it is important and because you are the one assigned, you are forced to complete the task.
Jesus ‘s assignment was to accept crucifixion. He knew that no one else could do it. The sacrifice would be great. Completing the assignment would mean immeasurable pain and suffering. He understood that he had to do it- for people he did not know. Jesus even knew that some would never understand the magnitude of his sacrifice, much less appreciate it.
He accepted the assignment – for you, for me for all of us. His completion of this sacrificial assignment changed the world. Praise Jesus for going to the cross and paying the debt he did not owe..
After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said in fulfillment of the Scripture, “I am thirsty. John 19:28
When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and [voluntarily] gave up His spirit. John 19:30
