Can He Count On You to Serve?

so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.
15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. 17 Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

If you agree to volunteer, do you volunteer with a servant’s heart? Is your willingness to serve tempered by what you are asked to do? Pride and position have no place when completing acts of service. Yet, often our reaction to an assigned task is based on these two things. Many of us need to be recognized. Many of us need to be publically thanked and acknowledged. Service should be focused on the task not our desire to be appreciated.

Being more like God means that you serve based on need. No matter the task, serve with humility and compassion.  If you are concerned about who sees your service – know that God does.
