Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise.

Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.  For the Lord is good;

A Recipe for a Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving Day is a very special holiday devoted to acknowledging God in thanksgiving, prayer and praise, and spending time with family and friends. Each year we spend countless hours shopping and preparing meals for the Thanksgiving holiday dinner.  The aroma of our homes is filled with food, fun and fellowship.  From sweet potato pies, collard greens, cornbread, macaroni and cheese, broccoli rice casserole, peppered corn, to German chocolate cake, and many of our favorite classic recipes, and of course the all-America bird is the main attraction.  I’m hungry already.  Well before you take the time to carve the turkey, make sure you carve out some special time during this month for God.  Before you satisfy your physical hunger, carve out the time to satisfy your spiritual hunger, and feast on His Word before the Thanksgiving feast.

onsecrate your heart to God. (Psalm 51:10)
dore His Holy and Righteous Name. (Psalm 66:3-4)
est in the assurance of His presence.  (Matthew 28:20)
oice your victory in Jesus…testify of His goodness…give Him thanks.  (Philippians 1:6)
ncourage others in the Faith. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

Carve out the time to praise Him. O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!  El Shadday, God Almighty, we delight ourselves in You.  We praise You for your everlasting love and tender mercies.  Elohim, God our Creator, the Creator of heavens and earth; You created us in your image and made us a little lower than the angels, and we praise You and yield our lives to You.

Carve out the time to thank Him.  God of all blessings, source of all life, giver of all grace, we thank You.  Thank you for the gift of eternal life, and for the breath that sustains life, for the love of family and friends, and the food that nurtures life. Thank You that everything good comes from your loving hand.  Lord, we thank You for your hedge of protection and favor upon our lives and upon Sheila B. Ministries.

Carve out the time to examine yourself.  (1) How much time will I carve out for God during Thanksgiving? (2) How will I express my gratefulness to God in a special way? (3) What will I do to serve others this year? (4) Who will I encourage in the faith?

A Thanksgiving Prayer

Most Holy and Gracious Father,

We bow before You today united in thanks and praise to You.  Our hearts are filled with an attitude of gratitude for the many blessings that you have bestowed upon us, both spiritual and physical.  Thank You for the gift of family and friends.  We thank You for blessing us with food to nourish our bodies.  Grant us your spiritual blessings and the grace to serve You in response to your love and bountiful gifts to us.  We pray in Jesus Name and for His glory, Amen.

Happy Thanksgiving 2015!

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.   1 Chronicles 16:34
