Dr. E. K. Bailey

Dr. E. K. Bailey, the late husband of Dr. Sheila M. Bailey and founder of the Concord Missionary Baptist Church went to be with the Lord in October 2003.  During his illustrious tenure as pastor he began sponsoring the Institute On Church Growth Conference in 1982 to help African American Churches improve their administrative and Christian operations through shared leadership. The focus was on how to develop a biblical philosophy of ministry, and how to put that which was learned into practice. From this concept, E. K. Bailey Ministries, Inc. was founded in 1989.  Its mission is to provide the basic principles and practices of Biblical church growth to African American pastors and lay leaders in order to empower and revitalize African American churches to impact the world for personal and social change. Based in part upon the name recognition of Dr. E. K. Bailey in the African American community and the needs the organization was designed to meet, this ministry found instant credibility. At its first conference, "Discipling and Developing the African American Male," over 600 men came to Dallas to learn and acquire resources to take the back to their churches.

One of Dr. Bailey's obvious passions was the local church; especially his beloved Concord Missionary Baptist Church. Building on the spirit of ever expanding mission opportunities, in 2008, the board of E.K. Bailey Ministries, Inc. wholeheartedly and enthusiastically passed the baton of Dr. E.K. Bailey's Ministries, Inc. from a separate nonprofit institution to the authority of the church and therefore entrusting the future Kingdom work of this ministry to Dr. Bryan Carter and the Concord Missionary Baptist Church. We did this after much prayer and with a sense of the unmistakable leadership of the Holy Spirit. The mission, vision, and unlimited potential of E.K. Bailey Ministries, Inc. has now moved to another higher step under the leadership of this remarkable church.
